A Family-friendly hostel

More than a hostel, a pura vida experience

Our hope is that your stay with us resembles staying with family than a one-night stopover at a hostel.

Our guarantee

We guarantee our guests a friendly, comfortable, and personalized service. We want to greet you and welcome you to our beautiful city and country.

Why stay with us

We are conveniently located in downtown Alajuela, a 5-minute taxi ride from the Juan Santamaria International Airport, which is especially great for early-morning departures or late-night arrivals.

You will find all the necessary tourist services close to the hostel, like public and private banks, supermarkets, drugstores, restaurants, gas stations, and more.

Alajuela is a great option as a home base for taking single-day tours to the Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, and Costa Rican coffee plantations.

As a Costa Rican family-owned and operated hostel, we want to welcome you to the land of Pura Vida and do our best in ensuring you have the best experience possible while here.

Conveniently close to the airport. Breakfast included. Clean and calm ambiance. A great hostel experience in Costa Rica

Spent 4hrs here before our midnight flight. The owner is very sweet and welcoming. The room and washroom were clean and the location of the bnb is great. Walking distance from the mall, 2 mins walk to a few other eateries on the main road and 3kms from the airport.

The host, Laura, was very welcoming, helpful and informative. She is also an excellent cook. The breakfast was fantastic! My room was simple, clean and comfortable. Good location in Alajuela, and close to the airport. I intend to stay here again the next time I travel through the San Jose airport.

Laura is more than helpful and the breakfast is great. Clean rooms and bathrooms. We stayed there the first and the last night at our stay in Costa Rica and Laura gave us plenty of tips and advices for our trip. Taxi is around 4-6 dollars to/from the airport. Thank you Laura and see you next time! F & H

I chose this hostel because it wasn’t expensive, close to the airport and highly recommended – and I was not disappointed! Hostel is really small so the service is really personal and you feel more like you are at someone’s home more than at hostel. Laura is amazing host. Wifi works well, rooms and bathrooms are clean, breakfast is good. A lot of restaurants and cafes on a walking distance. I have nothing bad to say about this place!

Lajuela Hostel was an excellent choice for my stay on my first and last night in Costa Rica. It’s close to the airport but feels like you’re in town and not just in a commercial area. It is close to the Alajuela central plaza plus restaurants, grocery stores and markets, banks, and a couple of churches are all within minutes walking distance.

The hostel is clean and the beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms were all nice and very clean. This small hostel is quiet, simple yet homey, and cozy. Laura is a very kind and helpful host and goes above and beyond to accommodate guests’ schedules. The breakfast is amazing too! The only downside is that there is no comfortable common area to hang out with other guests (just a couple sofas in the reception area), which would be nice for people staying here longer but it was ok for staying just one night one the way in and on the way out. Would highly recommend this place!

I found this place after disappointing stays at other places in the area this winter. The rooms are nicely decorated, beds and linens are very comfortable, breakfasts are incredibly delicious, place is very clean, quiet area, host is very warm and caring and knowledgeable about transportation to other areas of the country. I needed to be in the area frequently for personal reasons and have stayed here many nights. I doubt you could find such a great place within a short distance of restaurants and the central area.
